My Zen Shoot.
She came.
We shot.
We created.
She left.
It truly was as easy as that.
I’ve never had an easier shoot.
Creating can be easy, or it can be difficult. There are so many things that can get in the way — overplanning, stress, second-guessing. But this shoot with Seraphina, a model and friend from San Francisco, reminded me that it doesn’t have to be that way.
This one felt simple — and that simplicity came from surrendering to the process.
I realized after a recent shoot that I had been overthinking everything. So this time, I stripped it all down. I put away the notes. I didn’t bring a pile of gear. I committed to using just one camera for stills and one for video. That’s it.
And in that simplicity, I found something I hadn’t felt in a while: peace.
Freedom.
Focus.
I didn’t need to control the outcome. I didn’t need to overthink. I just needed to show up, trust the light, and create.
Getting older has been an evolution. You’d think the longer you do something, the more control you’d want. But for me, it’s been the opposite. I don’t wish to control — I like flow.
What was it Yoda said?
“No try. Do.”
She didn’t need direction. The moment was already there — I just had to witness it.
I’ve spent 40+ years trying.
I don’t want to try anymore.
I just want to do.
The shoot itself was calm, simple, and honest. The images reflect that. If you’d like to see the final gallery when it goes live, keep an eye on CreativelyBare.com; it’ll be there soon.
