Shame is not a four letter word
My photography was for a long while a means of expression and a way for me to meet people. I was a shy kid and used my camera as that buffer between me and the world.
I found early on that creating portraits was especially fulfilling for me and I pursued that for a bit. In college I found it was a great way to meet girls and make friends in general, the guys hung about because of the female friends and the girls hung about cause the guys hung about, it was a win-win.
Fast forward to later life and creating black and white images of the female form, was what I decided to pursue. This was always done in shadow literally and figuratively, maybe its why I shot the way I did a lot of the models, face, body were in the shadows because my photography was in the shadows.
This isn't about changing how I shoot - shadow and depth stay in the photos. But the work itself, the process, the behind the scenes - that comes to light now. If people get it, great. If they don't, that's their deal. Won't stop me from creating what I love.
So, my photos and what I create remain shadowed and are varying shades of lights and darks, but the work, and how I create and the process that comes to the light now.
